For over a decade, Hapaot Center has successfully operated “Nitzanim” – a program offering a new approach to school readiness!
“Nitzanim” (“bud” in Hebrew) offers professionally-led group activities for kindergartners, aiming to strengthen skills that are crucial to success in school. It is based on elements of the ‘Project Approach’ method and the understanding that children learn best when learning is experiential and interest-based. Therefore, in “Nitsamim” children choose a topic that excites them, and around it our providers create activities that build and strengthen skills that will help them succeed in the transition to first grade.
For example: One group chose to set up a “restaurant”. As part of the activity, they prepared their own bills and coins and thus practiced math skills and quantitative thinking. They prepared chef’s hats and aprons, utilizing their fine motor skills. They wrote a menu and practiced graphomotor skills, and copying from the black board. At the end of the sessions, parents were invited to a festive restaurant opening!
What Sets Nitzanim Apart?
Nizanim groups are led by two providers with degrees in the fields of education, child development or therapy.
The program includes two individual sessions with each child and his or her parents, in order to set personalized goals and track their progress.
We offer groups in specific focuses to best match each child’s needs. We operate groups for children that need help strengthening graphomotor abilities, groups for children with language delays, groups for children with ADHD, groups for at-risk children and groups for the wide audience.
We place an emphasis on developing children’s emotional and social abilities because we understand how crucial they are to children’s success in school.
